D. Griffin Ashley writes stories about people under pressure—individuals navigating harsh landscapes, uncertain histories, and systems larger than themselves. Much of his writing draws inspiration from real places and histories. Growing up in the mountains of North Carolina, Ashley developed a deep interest in the landscapes, cultures, and overlooked stories of Appalachia. Ashley is the author of multiple series and stand-alone works, including the Ledger & Blade fantasy novels and a range of historical and speculative projects that explore different eras and cultures. His stories often blend careful research with strong narrative momentum, favoring believable worlds and human decisions over destiny and prophecy.

In addition to writing fiction, Ashley is an educator and game designer. He develops tabletop games and narrative systems that explore strategy, history, and storytelling in interactive form.
